About me

Hello everyone and welcome to Procrastireader! My name is Victoria (she/her) and as the name suggests I like reading to avoid doing the unpleasant things I should really be doing. I am a 2nd-year university student majoring in English and would love to one day work in the publishing industry.

My Mission is: To be a welcoming community for fellow procrastireaders, who read to avoid the unpleasant things in life.

I recall loving books from a young age, even before I could read myself as my mom would read to me before bed and I would always beg “one more, one more!” for her to read another chapter. The love for reading that I’ve had since childhood inspired me to start this blog as it has helped me grow and shape into the person I am today. Reading has opened me up to so many different lives and experiences – often causing me to have a plethora of thoughts and feelings – so my blog is a way to share this all with others in hopes they are able to connect with this love of reading. Learning from the book community has made me an advocate for more diversity in books, which I hope to actively engage in with the types of books I recommend and talk about on my blog.

Here’s a BookTok I made you can watch if you’re interested in learning more about “me and my books:”

On this blog I will be mostly focusing on YA though I occasionally read classics or adult books (which I will indicate). My favourite genre is probably fantasy; I love being transported to different worlds. My name was inspired by this Tumblr post I once read:

Some of my favourites include:

Book Series: The Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo, Magnus Chase and The Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan, The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater, All For The Game by Nora Sakavic, Harry Potter by J.K Rowling (I do not support her views)

Other Books: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets of The Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman

Music: Dua Lipa, Troye Sivan, Kali Uchis, One Direction

TV Shows: One Day at a Time, Good Omens, Queer Eye, Julie and The Phantoms

Movies/Musicals: La La Land, Mama Mia 1 & 2, Hamilton

Hobbies: walking my dog, yoga, tie-dying, playing Animal Crossing, spending too much money on clothes, singing, dancing, photography, journaling, daydreaming

This was hard for me to narrow down especially since I’m constantly discovering new things!

I also will have a section on my blog labelled “Academics” which will be coursework for the Publishing classes that I am taking. It will be book/writing-related and also touch on my progress in creating this blog.

Thanks for stopping by! Don’t be afraid to reach out to me on my socials or send a message to me through the contact form. I am always willing to chat!
